Installing Gallery
Express from CD:
Windows 95/98/2000 NT Installation Instructions:
To Install:
1. Begin at the Windows Desktop.
2. Insert the DevWave Gallery Express disk into your CD-ROM.
3. The DevWave Gallery Express start-up window should appear.
4. Click the Install button, and follow the onscreen instructions to
install the program.
If the DevWave Gallery Express start-up window does not appear automatically onscreen, you can install the
program manually.
1. Click the Start button on the task bar and choose Run.
2. Type D:\SETUP.exe in the line labeled Open (if your CD-ROM drive
uses a letter other than D, substitute for D).
3. Click the OK button and follow the onscreen instructions to install
the DevWave Gallery Express
program.
Installing
Gallery Express from Internet Download:
Download the file from the server or location, and save onto your
harddrive.
1. After downloading double click the downloaded
file and the Installation License screen will appear.
2. You must agree to the license before you can continue.
3. Click the OK button and follow the onscreen instructions to install
the DevWave Gallery Express
program.
Installed Gallery Express Components:
When you first download Gallery Express, or install Gallery Express
from a CD-ROM, the following main components will be installed on your system.
- Gallery Express program file (GalleryExpress.exe) - installed to the
directory you specified during the install wizard (usually c:/Program Files/Gallery
Express).
- Gallery Express database (ArtData.mdb) - installed to the directory
you specified during the install wizard (usually c:/Program Files/Gallery Express).
- Gallery Express Screen Saver (GalleryExpress.scr) - installed in your
Windows System directory.
When you run Gallery Express for the first time (Program
Files->Gallery Express on your start menu), you will be prompted to log on as
the Administrator. The default password shipped with the software is
'express'. For security reasons, it is
recommended that you change this password immediately.
To start using the program, it is necessary
to ensure that the default settings for your company are set correctly. Read the Setting your defaults - Company Defaults
and Validation tables sections of the Gallery Express On-line Help File
before you begin.
Gallery Express Network
Installation:
If you are installing Gallery Express for use on a
network (as limited by your software license agreement), you will want to locate the
database on a computer you have designated as your file server. If your first installation
of Gallery Express was not on the computer you wish to use as the file server:
- Copy the ArtData.mdb file(located in the directory
you specified when installing the software) to your file server then run Gallery Express.
- Set the data source of the program to the database
on your file server (See the Setting the Data Source section of the Gallery Express On-line Help File).
- Repeat Step 2 for each workstation where you are installing Gallery Express.
Gallery Express Screen
Saver:
Gallery Express comes complete with a screen saver
that will display all art inventory that you have entered digital images for. You can
configure the screen saver through Settings->Control
Panel->Display->Screen Saver on your Start Menu. Select GalleryExpress
as your screen saver and apply your changes. If you wish to change the configuration of
the screen saver, click 'Settings'.
