Installing
Estimate Works on Windows 7:
Windows 7 Installation Instructions (tested with
64 bit also):
(Microsoft Word 2000/2003/2007/2010 Required)
After trying to run on your Windows 7 operating system you may receive
an error (error 75 or error 3051) that the program cannot access the database.
Follow these steps to get the software running correctly:
- Open Windows Control Panel.
- Select 'User Accounts and Family Safety'.
- Type "UAC" into the
search box on the top right.
- Select 'Change User Account Control settings'.
- Select 'Change the slider to Never Notify (all the way to the
bottom)'.
- Click 'OK' and restart your computer when prompted.
Installing
Estimate Works on VISTA:
Windows VISTA Installation Instructions:
(Microsoft Word 2000/2003/2007/2010 Required)
After installing on
your VISTA operating system you may receive an error (error 75 or error 3051) that
the program cannot access the database. Follow these steps to get the
software running correctly:
- Open Windows Control Panel.
- Select 'User Accounts'.
- Select 'Turn User Control on or off'.
- Uncheck the 'Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your
computer.' check box.
- Click 'OK' and restart your computer when prompted
Installing the Estimator from
CD-Rom:
To Install:
1. Begin at the Windows Desktop.
2. Insert the
Estimate Works disk into CD-ROM.
3. The
Estimate Works start-up window should appear.
4. Click the Install button, and follow the onscreen
instructions to install the program.
If the Estimate Works start-up window does not appear
automatically onscreen, you can install the program manually.
1. Click the Start button on the
task bar and choose Run.
2. Type D:\SETUP.exe in the line labeled Open (if
your CD-ROM drive uses a letter other than D, substitute for
D).
3. Click the OK button and follow the onscreen
instructions to install the Estimate
Works program.
Installing
the Estimator from Internet Download:
Download the file from the server or location,
save onto your harddrive.
1. After downloading double
click the downloaded file and the Installation License screen will
appear.
2. You must agree to the license before you can
continue.
3. Click the OK button and follow the onscreen
instructions to install the Estimate
Works program.
Starting
Estimate Works for Word:
When Estimate Works™ launches,
MS Word 2000/2003/2007/2010 performs a macro virus scan in
Microsoft Word. It will be indicated on the status bar at the bottom
when the virus scan is running.
The Estimate Works™ toolbar will
not load until the macro virus scan has been completed.
When you first run Estimate Works™
you may be presented with a similar "Security Warning" window.
This will enable DevWave Software Inc. to be added as a trusted source
so that you can continue to run Estimate Works™ with your security
settings on 'high'. To view our certificate, click on the 'Details'
button on the window.
To add DevWave Software Inc. as a trusted
source, check the 'Always trust macros from this source.'
check box and click on the 'Enable Macros' button.
Common Macro Security Solutions
Error: "The macro cannot be found or is disabled
because of your security settings."
In newer versions of Word, having the program
terminate unexpectedly can cause this error to appear the next
time the program is opened. To resolve this, follow the steps
below.
Word 2007:
- Open Word.
- Click the Microsoft Office Button
, and then click Word Options.
- Click Add-Ins.
- In the Manage list, select Word Add-ins, and then click
Go.
- Click the Templates tab.
- In the list under the 'Global Templates and Addins' look
for 'EWPaintPro.dot'
- If it is listed, check it off and click 'OK' - go to step
9.
- If it is not listed, click the 'Add' button and browse to 'EWPaintPro.dot' (usually located in the 'c:\Program
Files\Estimate Works Word' directory). Click OK.
- If you are prompted with the security warning, check off
'Always trust macros from this source' and then click the
'Enable Macros' button.
Word 2000/XP/2003:
- Open Word.
- Select 'Templates and Addins' from the 'Tools' menu
- In the list under the 'Global Templates and Addins' look for
'EWPaintPro.dot'
- If it is listed, check it off and click 'OK' - go to step 6.
- If it is not listed, click the 'Add' button and browse to 'EWPaintPro.dot'
(usually located in the 'c:\Program Files\Estimate Works Word' directory).
Click OK.
- If you are prompted with the security warning, check off
'Always trust macros from this source' and then click the
'Enable Macros' button.
